Loans for women micro-entrepreneurs in Kenya

Kenya

ASA Kenya Limited is a microfinance institution (MFI) that provides loans to micro- and small enterprises that are organised in groups. ASA Kenya is a full subsidiary of ASA International (ASAI) which has a global network of subsidiaries, some of which have also partnered with Oikocredit.

ASA’s mission is to financially empower people on very low incomes. The organisation is backed by a wide range of international shareholders, stakeholders and lenders. Its roots lie in ASA Bangladesh, founded in 1978, which developed a successful specific microfinance model that is being replicated by the various subsidiaries worldwide.

ASA Kenya was launched in 2013 and currently has branches in six counties, serving more than 27,000 women micro-entrepreneurs. The institution has plans to expand national coverage and increase its focus on rural areas.

ASA Kenya Limited has been an Oikocredit partner since 2017.
