Jitegemea Credit Scheme - Providing financial services to empower entrepreneurs
Jitegemea Credit Scheme
Providing financial services to empower entrepreneurs
The microfinance institution Jitegemea Credit Scheme (JCS) was founded in 1998 and started off as a programme of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in east Nairobi. The core business of JCS consists of providing financial services to promote and empower micro and small enterprises across Kenya. Its financial services include loans and savings products and technical assistance.
JCS is a long standing partner of Oikocredit. JCS has grown in size over the years, but it has kept its focus on clients' needs.
JCS will use Oikocredit's 2014 financing to disburse loans from its new rural branches in Naivasha, Gilgil, Nakuru, Nyahururu and Nanyuki. This is expected to enable more than 9,000 micro and small entrepreneurs to expand their businesses which will create more employment opportunities, especially in rural areas where access to credit remains a challenge.
JCS has been an Oikocredit partner since 2004.Download this project as a PDF
