Funding to help expand a microcredit programme for low-income women

Philippines

Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc. (NWTF) is a microfinance institution (MFI) that provides savings products, loans and other services to low-income women micro-entrepreneurs, farmers, fishers, and small to medium enterprises in the Philippines.

NWTF is one of the leading MFIs in the Visayas island group. It is one of the early replicators of Grameen's renowned lending methodology. The organization was founded in 1986 and has built up a solid reputation in the microfinance sector. Today, NWTF is a significant player with a broad range of financial and non-financial services.

NWTF has a strong commitment to poverty alleviation, which is put into practice by ensuring that at least 80% of the clients live below the national poverty line when they join the microcredit programme. NWTF employs the Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) tool to set alleviation targets and adapt products to the needs of its clients.

NWTF, Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation Inc. has been an Oikocredit partner since 2005.
