Volunteers and staff meet our partners in Ghana
A group of Oikocredit volunteers and staff have travelled from Europe and North America to Ghana for our 2020 study tour, taking place this week. Participants will visit financial inclusion partner organisations and end-clients, as well as a renewable energy partner. There will also be a visit to one of Oikocredit's cocoa partners.
The study tour includes volunteers from Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Spain; an international supervisory board member, together with regional and Netherlands-based staff. The group will visit Oikocredit partner financial inclusion organisations ASA, OISL and Advans, renewable energy partner PEG Africa and the cocoa cooperative FEDCO in the east of Ghana.
Participants will gain insight into Ghana’s financial inclusion, agriculture and renewable energy sectors. They will also learn about Oikocredit’s role and social impact in Ghana; and see the diversity of Oikocredit’s portfolio in this west African country.
Oikocredit’s local offices in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire will be hosting the study tour. Supporting partners is central to Oikocredit’s work and the partner visits are a valuable opportunity to see at first-hand the work being carried out by the organisations we support in Ghana.
Participants will return home to share stories, photographs and experiences that will help spread the word about the social impact of Oikocredit. So, Oikocredit investors and members can look forward to hearing these stories in the coming months.
