Cooperativa de Ahorro y Credito Norandino
Funding for a new head office
Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples Norandino Ltda (Norandino) is a rural microfinance institution (MFI), regulated by the Federación Nacional de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito Del Perú. The cooperative was established in 2005 and its main goal is to support associated small farmers in Cajamarca, Piura, Amazonas and San Martin who have limited financial resources and market access.
Norandino has a strong presence in the coffee sector, but it also supports cocoa and cane sugar farmers. In 2013 Norandino had more than 7,000 members. The MFI offers a wide range of individual loan and savings products and services which have been tailored to the different needs of the agricultural sector. It is one of the few MFIs to operate in these remote parts of Peru.
Norandino works closely with other local agriculture cooperatives and its staff are very knowledgeable and often active farmers themselves.
Norandino will use Oikocredit's 2014 loan to finance the construction of a new head office in Jaen City, in the department of Cajamarca.
Norandino has been an Oikocredit partner since 2010.Download this project as a PDF
