The deposit-taking microfinance institution Kenya Women Microfinance Bank (KWFT) was founded in 1981 by a small group of women. It provides loans and savings products to women in Kenya. Most borrowers are women entrepreneurs, salaried employees and farmers.
KWFT is a sustainable financial institution with more than 2,000 staff. KWFT is regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya and has a network of over 200 offices and marketing units across the country. In addition, it uses service delivery channels such as mobile banking and ATMs to increase its outreach.
Kenya Women Microfinance Bank has been an Oikocredit partner since 2010.
